A customer from Bad Neustadt contacted us after the OM 502 engine of his Setra S431 DT caused several problems. We transported the bus the Autowelt GmbH workshop in 97618 Niederlauer and inspected the damage. The cause turned out to be piston seizure, which usually develops due to a lack of lubrication and the therefore resulting friction. The pistons expand due to the rising temperature in their cylinder until they "seize" on the cylinder surface and cause further engine damage.
The engine was removed, overhauled with new parts, installed and tested. The bus is now back in service.
