A customer brought a 20-year-old customised Maurer SL Starliner motorhome to our workshop in 97618 Niederlauer and complained about a loss of performance power. The features of this Starliner included the hydraulically extendable living area, a special storage space in the rear that allows smaller cars to be transported and a number of other extras that make this model unique. The motorhome is powered by the American Cummins 24-Valve, a multi-valve pushrod engine equipped with four valves per cylinder.
The loss of power could have many causes. We checked the vehicle's electrics, made sure the control units were working and, when investigating the fuel system, finally discovered that the fuel feed pump was faulty. We organised a suitable replacement part for the American feed pump, replaced it and restored the motorhome to its original performance.
